Prayer for a Writing Group
So, at the school I work in, we’re supposed to pray. I’m not particularly good at it, in my opinion, so I thought I’d write one for the writer’s group. Then we can do prayer requests and end with this prayer. Let me know what you think. I have time to revise.

As we sit down to work today, may we be creative.
If we have writer’s block and the page seems to go on forever,
Let us remember that sometimes suffering is good for the soul.
Let us remember that sometimes suffering is good for the soul.
With that in mind, help us to be open to the stories that wish to be told
Because sometimes writing can be a brilliant thing.
Because sometimes writing can be a brilliant thing.
If something does not turn out the way we want it to,
Let us be mindful that something good will come of it.
Let us be mindful that something good will come of it.
Even if it is just more practice.
Practicing our craft is always valuable.
May each writer be compassionate to their characters, even when they are not kind.
Compassion is born from understanding.
May we gain a greater understanding of humanity and God’s world around us through our writing and reading today.
May our words be filled with the ring of truth, even if we are writing fiction.
May we be honest with ourselves and our characters, and in doing so, honest with our readers.
May those who edit or comment on work today be filled with loving consideration for the author.
May critique be given with love in the heart and a desire to help the author become stronger.
May each writer be well.
May each writer be happy.
May each writer find joy in their work.
