OTG: The Oregon Trail Generation
I was born in 1983. This means that according to demographers I'm both a part of Gen X and a Part of Gen Y, a group also dubbed "the Millennials." Generations are a tricky business and I would venture to say that people born in the late 70s and early 80s are really a strange micro-generation. I have no idea what we should be called, but I'm a fan of "The Oregon Trail Generation," because, frankly, we certainly don't fit the general descriptions of either:

I was having a conversation with a former student the other day that started off like this: Former Student: “Ms. K, I know you’ve got to like Criminal Minds. It’s a well-written cop show about the psychology of crazy that uses quotes at the beginning and the end.” Me: Yes, it’s probably my favourite show. Why I Love Cop/Detective/FED/Spy Shows
I know that a lot of people like procedural shows, but not too many people like them as much as I do. People find that eventually the format gets tired, they’re easy to solve, or they can only watch an episode once. I go into a show knowing that the format will be the same, I always know who the bad guy is as soon as I see them or hear them mentioned, and I can watch episodes in marathons over and over again for the same reason that I will read a book ten times: I always find something new in them.
