Mockingjay is the third book in The Hunger Games Trilogyand I liked it much better than the second book. This one is about the rebellion and the fallout that happens from the destruction of District 12. We see a tortured Peeta and an angry Katniss face off via propaganda commercials on opposite sides of the rebellion. Katniss, as Mockingjay, helps to take control of the districts and we see how her anger and PTSD affect her throughout the book. We also see how Gale deals with everything and what his focus becomes during the rebellion that he’s been waiting for all these years. After Peeta is no longer being tortured…

Catching Fire is book two in the popular trilogy The Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta won the 74th Hunger Games in the previous novel and are forced to go on a “Victory Tour”. Before they leave, President Snow shows up in Katniss’ home and threatens everyone she loves because her action with the berries at the end of the last Hunger Games has been taken as rebellion in some of the districts. Without knowing it, Katniss started a rebellion. President Snow tells her essentially that she has to calm the masses, convince him that she’s in love with Peeta, and tow the company line if she wants to save everyone…

I read this book back in November, thought I had posted my entry, and realized I hadn’t when I finished book two and started book three today. So, I’m remedying this issue right now. I started to read this book because a student of mine asked me to. She was right. It’s brilliantly done. Granted, the copy I got had a few typos (and typos drive me bonkers when I read them in non-professional writing, my own included, but even more so in something that was supposedly professionally edited).
