    Readings and Rewritings

    So, here’s the thing.  I’m a writer.  I’m also a teacher/actor/singer/dance.  You would think that the last four would mean that I don’t get that heart pounding, stomach churning panic before I go up to read my work, right?  You’d be wrong.     Writers, Writerly Friends, and Friend Friends

    So, everyone needs friends but it is especially important for writers and artists. Every once in a while we need a ninja kick to the brain and our friends are the best people to do this. Let me explain… I was having a hard time with past vs. present tense with my trilogy-now-a-series. The reason for this being that it is written in present tense currently, but that makes some scenes particularly harsh. It makes the first scene of the first book incredibly harsh.     Yesterday’s Reading…

    So, handing someone words on a page much less terrifying than reading aloud to people.  Even though I’ve been in theatre my whole life, I find reading my own words to be a rather heart-racing sort of experience.  Once I got up there and started reading though I dropped into the story and forgot everyone else so that was a good. There were a lot of goods actually.  The thing about reading aloud is that you hear the rhythm of the words.  I read one Jade section and one Rhea section.  I had been told by some published sci-fi/fantasy writers that I needed to make the trilogy into a series…
